Gratz! BTW we are making a feature for the upcoming release which will allow to navigate to URLs upon clicking on 3D objects. This way website links below and above the fish will actually work.

Yes, 500k polys is too much. Not only this eats system resources but also is a reason for slow loading, and therefore bad experience for end users. I agree that investing more effort in model optimization is a good idea.

Looks like an out-of-memory issue. It is not related to the warning you mentioned. It can happen on mobile devices than you got too many polygons or too big textures in your scene. May be some hidden high-poly geometry presents in your blend file that is still being loaded. I'd recommend to open your exported JSON file in our Scene Viewer in order to check actual polycount and memory consumption. You can also email us your model if you are not restricted in doing this.

Is there a location where all the mobile gesture controls will be defined/described?
Still to be described. One-finger drag rotates target and eye camera and moves hover camera. Two-finger spread zooms the camera in, while two-finger pinch zooms it out. Two-finger drag will perform camera panning.

Austrian design studio called Zeus Medien Gmbh presented their website based on Blend4Web technology. The website features first person view seamlessly integrated with navigation to different website pages. Controls can be performed with the mouse with the left mouse button pressed, and also with WASD or arrows keyboard keys.

The studio developers are going to publish the source files of the 3D web app under GPL soon.
