Hello everyone!

Blend4Web team has a new patch, which includes support for Normal Map shader node in glsl and Blender internal render https://developer.blender.org/D1120.
Also there are following patches currently waiting review:
1) Cycles Geometry outputs support for Blender Internal and GLSL render https://developer.blender.org/D923
2) Vector Transform node support for GLSL mode and the internal render https://developer.blender.org/D909

All this stuff can be very helpful for construction of beautiful materials for Blender and Blend4Web.
Help us to promote them! We need your votes and responses!

Thank you for your attention.

Blend4Web team has published a new patch which makes it possible to create custom render engines with native render capabilities. This patch will help to make interface more clear, and thus, will simplify our users' work.

Link to the patch: https://developer.blender.org/D1175

As soon as it will be applyed to the master branch, there will be enabled some significant Blend4Web addon improvements:

1) New render engine: Blend4Web.
2) Blend4Web panels will be removed from other engines.
3) Blend4Web render engine will use the same shader node tree as Blender Internal.
4) Only supported panels will be shown in the Blend4Web engine interface.

Hi guys,

Since Blender Institute announced a new viewport for 2.8 (I understand that it's in a really early state right now), do you plan to cooperate/take advantage of the new features(PBR, stuff from B4W that hasn't been implemented yet like post-processing effects,…) /be closer or be part of the developement team ?

Hi,

That's a nice question. The new Blender Viewport is a strongly "must have" stuff for us. It will bring a completely new level of comfort for artists using Blend4Web, because ideally there won't be any differences between what you see in Viewport and what you will see in Blend4Web. Therefore, we'll try to participate in this project as much as possible and probably we'll even hire someone for this task specifically.

And of course Blend4Web will support all the realtime features of the new Viewport including PBR and any posteffects.

Two of our patches will be included in the next release of Blender!

First patch include the implementation of Vector Transform for BI and Viewport.

Second patch implement support of cube texture for world in Viewport

This patch will also facilitate the development of a cube textures for materials in Viewport.

After more than a year the patch with the implementation of Normal Map node support is accepted into the Blender master branch. With Blender 2.8 you will be able to do normal mapping without additional Material node and even mix normal maps that have different UVs!
