emit mesh objects with particle emitter

Hi!
I tried to emit suzanne heads from a cube but the result was that just plain planes were emitted.
Is it currently(14.09) impossible to emit mesh objects with particle emitter?

Hi and welcome to the forum!
For now we only support emission of billboards. Mesh objects can be used in the Hair mode though. Please refer to these user manual sections for more info.
