How do I save changes in the Scene Viewer?

I think I read somewhere in the FAQ that it is possible to write back changes to the .blend file, but I don't know how.

Hi! There's no built-in mechanism to do it. However, theoretically it is possible, but it'll require to do some amount of work and for certain changes it can be quite difficult.
